So today I am working from home (well, my parent's house as my home is not quite ready) due to some wintery weather we had come through last night and into this morning. A mixture of sleet and snow graced my eyes this morning as I rolled out of bed. And of course, me being the wonderful employee I am, decided to try and make the trek into work. Well I only got as far as the gas station in Quakertown before my boss called me and said to get my butt back home. So since she signs my paycheck, I obliged. So I've been back and forth from the kitchen to the computer to the laundry room trying to keeping busy. I'm extremely restless these days. I believe it's for a couple of reasons:
A. My house is just about done so I can't stop thinking about all the decorating in the bedrooms I want to do before the baby arrives.
B. I've only got about 5 weeks left and feel as big as a house so I don't want to just sit around because that makes me feel bigger.
C. I've done everything I can possibly do to prepare for the baby beside decorating the nursery! (washed all the clothes, went thru my checklist to make sure I have all the necessary "equipment" for his/her arrival, put together my "binder" of important information for the hospital (thanks Carey), packed my suitcase, picked out a color for the nursery, did my hospital pre-check in, scheduled my appointment with the pediatrician, etc.)
So when you add all of these together, you get one bored and restless individual. :(
Plus, we're trying to save money so I can't just go out shopping every time I'm bored!! Ugghhh...
So on a better note, the drywall is all hung and it looks like the spackeling will be complete by Friday!!!! And if that's the case, on Saturday, my parents, Brandon and Adelina are coming over to help prime and paint the upstairs. And with the help of everyone, we could possibly be done by the end of the weekend! Which of course means that I can at least start hanging things on the walls and schedule the carpet installation! Ahhh...if by some miracle we are ready to move in all the furniture for the bedrooms and nursery by next weekend....well I just think I might cry. So please do me a favor....keep your fingers crossed and say a little prayer that all will go according to schedule and February 7th will mark the day that we officially move into our new home.
I'll be sure to keep you posted....

49 days to go...
Today officially marks 33 weeks for me! I can't believe I have less than 2 months to go! My last appointment was on 1/8/09 and everything still looked great. The baby's heart continues to beat at a strong and steady rhythm and I'm measuring right on schedule. Greg and I begin our Childbirth Classes on Monday, 1/19/09. I am so excited because I hear these classes are quite informative and will help a lot throughout the delivery. And Greg and I, being first time parents, can use all the help we can get. :) Next week I'll be scheduling my pre check-in to get all the paperwork, birth plan, etc. organized with the hospital. This will help to make D-Day run more smoothly. Plus, it's one less thing Greg and I will have to worry about on the big day.

I may not have a working bath, but that didn't keep me from getting showered...

with gifts that is!!
So I think I'll recap on how it all went down. Before the holidays, my mom and I were discussing when would be a good time to have the baby shower. We obviously wanted to wait until after the holidays because of everyone's hectic schedule. So we decided that sometime in January, maybe the 10th, would probably be best. Well, the shower was never spoke of again, at least not between myself and anyone. So the holdiays came and the holidays went and since my mind was no longer preoccupied with buying Christmas gifts, I began thinking about the shower. Wondering when it would be, where it would be, would the nursery be done in time, etc. Well, the 10th of course jumped out and since my sister-in-law, Tara, from CA was in town, Erin was going to be in town and my other sister-in-law, Laura, was coming to town, I thought, "It has to be on the 10th!" It makes sense. Well, I made the mistake of mentioning this to Erin and my mother and the wheels in their tricky little minds began to turn. Both of them played it off like I was way off with my date, telling me to go ahead and make plans and not to reserve that day for anything. Now the reason Erin was coming into town was because it was her parent's anniversary, so she invited me to their place Saturday afternoon and then my mother-in-law invited Greg and myself to her place for dinner. Since it was Tara's last night, it all made sense. So now I was thinking, maybe the shower is going to be at my mother-in-laws tonight and she's just using "dinner" as an excuse to get me over there. Well, I pulled up to Erin's parents on Saturday afternoon, flowers and card in hand to commemorate Lucy and Pat's 33rd anniversary. Erin greeted me as she usually does, we walked into the house and.....SURPRISE!!!
There in front of me was 26 very familiar faces and an enormous pile of gifts! They actually pulled off the surprise, thanks to the tricky minds of my mom, Barb (mother-in-law) and Erin! You ladies are good! Anyway, to say the least, this shower was exactly what I needed. We had some bad news with house inspection a week earlier (I won't go into detail because it looks like we can put that behind us) and I was really starting to get depressed and nervous that the nursery was not going to be ready before the baby came, not to mention the fact that we had absolutely NOTHING for the baby! So my mind was racing and I felt like I might lose it, but then as always, my wonderful family and friends swooped in to save the day! Thanks to everyone's extreme generosity, we got just about everything we need for the baby's arrival!! My mind was finally put to ease.
To to my mom - Words can't describe how thankful I am to have a mother like you. Someone who knows what I need when I need it and delivers, no questions asked. You truly are the best!!!
To Erin and Barb - Thank you so much for your parts in the planning and carrying out of this wonderful surprise!! You both never cease to amaze me.
To Lucy and Pat Callahan - Thank you for opening up your home, once again, to help in celebrating this wonderful part of our lives. We are truly thankful.
To Tara - Thank you so much for the adorable invitations...they couldn't have been done better!
And THANK YOU to everyone who attended and/or blessed Greg, Baby Davis and myself with your generosity. We are so blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives. All our love to all of you!!
