1 Month Check Up

Today was Brooke's one month check-up and it seems our little girl is packing on the pounds despite her constant spitting up. She weighed in at 8 lbs 12 oz and 22" long! Looks like our little peanut may not be little for too long. The doc said she's doing great and he's very happy with her progress. She received her second Hep B shot and was a little trooper. Of course there was that initial scream due to the pinch, but within seconds she was over it. Good girl Brooke!

On another note, she hasn't exactly been the best sleeper. She seems to prefer sleeping during the day and not at night. This of course, is something that needs to be adjusted sooner rather then later, especially since I'll be heading back to work next week. So the doc offered a suggestion: He said that when she wakes up at night to just let her cry for 15 minutes. If she's really hungry or needs to be changed, she'll continue crying, but if she's just bored or fussy, she'll end up crying herself back to sleep within that 15 minutes. Let's hope this works! One thing is for sure, it's going to be extremely hard to just listen to her cry and not do anything about it. :( Carey, I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

So along with working on her sleeping patterns, we'll be changing her feedings to every 3 hours instead of 2. This will be a nice little break for myself indeed. That extra hour can go a long way! So wish us luck on our quest to get our little girl to understand daytime means playtime and nighttime means sleepy time. And wish me luck on going back to work Monday and leaving her for a full day!
